Our goal at FinishWorks is to take them all the way across the finish line by providing them with the high-quality solutions and trusted knowledge they need to bridge the gap between inspiration and reality.
“Inspiration comes from involvement. We have the most up-to-date research team our markets have to offer—and it’s our customers. Our relationship with our customers involves collaboration, color palette assessments, understanding color trend movements past and present, and the drive to create the next generation of colors, techniques, and innovations.” —Rodney McFalls, Director of Color Styling & Interpretive Design
FinishWorks’ commitment to innovation means that we don’t just understand and follow industry trends, we influence them. According to Rodney McFalls, Director of Color Styling & Interpretive Design, “Trendscape is a broad overview of our research and findings, and the results of our collective ideas.”
The seasonal publication gives an overview of what’s currently trending in the world of woodworking and finishing, as well as updates about the company and industry as a whole. The Fall 2024 issue takes a closer look at some wood stains, coatings, and finishing techniques that may offer some inspiration as we wrap up the calendar year.
The latest edition of our Trendscape publication consists of three parts: one discussing the launch of our new Cerus-N-Stain (detailed below in the following section), one covering the exciting merger between FinishWorks and Mohawk, and one on how you can use white wood textures and other light finishes to amplify your design.
The innovation and progress that have resulted from the long-standing relationship between FinishWorks and Mohawk Finishing Products can’t be overstated. For years we’ve worked behind the scenes together, leveraging our strengths to bring our customers’ visions to life. Now, these two leading industrial coatings brands have teamed up and rebranded as one cohesive company: FinishWorks.
The final part of Trendscape’s Fall 2024 issue offers a handful of ways to get creative with white and wood, providing plenty of ideas and inspiration for combining the color white with your wood projects. We show you how to use textures, contrast, and other stylistic elements to amplify your design as you apply the finishing touches. The publication wraps up with some examples of wood stain colors to consider for your next project.
Cerusing, a finishing technique that’s been employed for hundreds of years, not only helps to protect the wood surface but also results in a unique two-toned coloration that distinctly accentuates the grain pattern.
Cerusing (also known as liming) wood is a classic finishing technique, but the process is traditionally tedious. It requires numerous steps as well as a number of different products, making the limed look a rather time consuming one to achieve.
The new Cerus-N-Stain solution streamlines this process, cutting the amount of steps needed to complete it in half without sacrificing finish quality. Thanks to this new product, you can achieve the timeless cerused look you want in half the time.
“The process is so simple, yet the results are stunning. This is definitely one of the most exciting inventions of today.”
—Fernando Ortega, FinishWorks Color Stylist
“Unquestionably the Cerus-N-Stain breakthrough is among the most exciting, monumental evolutions in wood finishing we have encountered in a long time…Cerus-N-Stain [provides] a more simplistic approach to an otherwise complex application, reducing costly labor expense through minimized process steps and producing a very consistent and beautiful finishing result.”
—Rodney McFalls, Director of Color Styling & Interpretive Design
“The new Cerus-N-Stain colors bring a whole new life to oak and similar wood species. [It] was recently introduced by Finishworks in Blue Emerald, Graphite, Coffee, Bark, Wool Blanket, Whisper and Sand.”
—Keith Jones, FinishWorks Color Stylist
